It is not a coincidence that the campaign of aggression against Syria has escalated in the recent days. It can easily be observed that the radical Islamist militant groups have been experiencing defeat after defeat to the Syrian Army. These Islamist rebel groups have received their most recent defeat with the June Uprisings in Turkey, and have resorted to continuing their existence by relying on the support they receive from the AKP Government. Then they resorted to terrorism. Upon this, the Syrian People and the Syrian Army have once again come together to beat back these groups once and for all.
The Imperialists and the fundamentalist countries of the region such as Turkey and Israel have become worried by this situation and are currently openly planning to engage in foreign intervention.
The governments of the two countries we have mentioned depend on the situation in Syria for their very existence and survival. In the event of Syria lifting the pressure caused by this threat of war, it will be impossible to stop the tables from turning and the result will ultimately be the collapse of Zionism and AKP’s fascism.
It is also apparent that the discussion of chemical weapons being deployed by the Syrian Government is a story that was written beforehand to be used today. As we know, even though there is no proof of chemical weapons having been deployed by the Syrian government, the United States and Turkey have declared a red line on this event, declaring it the last straw. Once again, preparations are being made for a war that cannot be justified, over claims that cannot be proven.
By the way, the only statement on the deployment of chemical weapons in Syria that can be taken seriously has been made by Swiss UN Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte last May. Del Ponte had made the statement “There is serious suspicion that the Syrian rebels are most likely deploying chemical weapons”. Del Ponte is in no way an ally of Assad. But on the other hand, all of the accusations being made against the Syrian Government are only claims and lies fabricated by the imperialists and fundamentalists.
Finally, the attack is timed at a moment where dialogue and peace can resolve the conflict. It is apparent that the purpose of this is to isolate Syria from the Geneva Peace Talks.
As the Peace Association of Turkey, we call upon all organizations and individuals, both in the region and abroad, to mobilize against new crimes against the Syrian people. In the ongoing conflict, it is the people of Syria who are being attacked. It is out in the open that the greater majority of the Syrian people support the legitimate government against the terrorist plots of the imperialist-supported fundamentalist rebels.
We warn those who are making preparations for war. Having a “victory” in Syria is only a dream. The reason for this does not lie in technological advancements, missile shield systems, and other such weapons. It lies in the Syrian peoples’ resistance. Our Syrian brothers and sisters will not sway away from their patriotic and progressive resistance which they have been engaged in for two and half years.
The Peace Association warns the AKP government not to try and hide their list of crimes committed against the Turkish and Syrian Peoples. In this list is the pillaging of Syrian factories, agricultural equipment, and oil facilities. There is the open supporting of terrorist organizations and attacks. There is the terrorizing of the Turkish People, and the plotting of schemes to pull the people living on the Syrian border with Turkey into a sectarian conflict…
No matter what the outcome of the campaign for war turns out to be, the Peace Association is always mobilizing to bring the AKP government to account over its crimes. The Reyhanli Massacre, plundering, illegal weapons trafficking, the production of chemical gas in Gaziantep, and the capture of El Nusra militants in Adana who bearing such chemicals… It is the duty of all peace-loving people to not let even a single of these crimes go unnoted and forgotten. Since they are sharpening their battleaxes, it is time to be on the offensive in the struggle for peace.
As for the AKP Government, it is apparent that they are not aware that, as they are trying to get rid of the issues they are plagued with, they are throwing themselves further into the fire. Erdoğan and Davutoğlu have no chance of selling this war to the Turkish People. Towards the end of the last month of May, the Prime Minister had stated “We have decided, we will build a barracks, a shopping center, a mosque…” and now they are saying “We have decided, we are going to war”. This is not as easy as cutting down a few trees, and we know the issue isn’t about a few trees. The response of our peace-loving people will certainly be greater than you could ever imagine.
