What Business does a Womens' Peace
Organisation Have in Common with „Pussies and Riots“? NON!
WILPF women do neither want to be
defined as sexobjects or playthings nor do they see their social
role as „rioters“ even if they often have had to express their
dissent with offically elected policy makers. Wilpfers see themselves
as educators who have been working for a peaceful transformation of their
war ridden societies in an almost 100 year old struggle.
WILPF's struggle is based upon aims
and principles. WILPF wants to abolish war forever and therefore works for a new economic world order based on justice. WILPF principles
include tolerance and nonviolent procedures. As women and as
peacemakers, Wilpfers care to be treated as equal human beings who want
their specific needs to be taken into consideration.
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom came into organisational existence in 1919 in Zürich, Switzerland, while having been born out of an anti-war gathering of over 1000 women at the Hague in 1915. In the midst of a world wide slaughtering, which was later baptized World War I, they sent peace delegates to the waring parties. Diplomatic respect for the “enemy“ nation and their leaders was a precondition to their very work.

Wilpfers of all ages cannot accept
their sister being defined through male eyes as „Pussies“.
Wilpf women will never accept being reduced to their sex organs.
Professional women and mothers do not allow being
stigmatized and diminished as „pussies“ or pussycats,
sexobject or any kind of male playthings.
The Russian „Punk Band“ „Pussy Riot“ acting with face masks and using violent
methods, such as burning pictures of their elected president in
public must be criticized for doing so. Their using symbols of
violence like a speared guitars, their disrespect for the religious
feelings of their compatriots and their aggressive and provocative
behavior, needs to be exposed and not to be applauded.
WILPF also must distanciate itself
from "Pussy Riots" political background as being a spring off of the BBC and
Western PR agencies, using their very strategies.
Their political aim, namely to "put shit" on „the altar“ and to their elected president cannot be aproved of, escpecially not in times of war threats under way.
