Kerry Cementing Covert Deal of U.S. Arms Flow to Ukraine

Amid the meme being spread by Pentagon «sources» to the media that Russia is currently more unpredictable militarily than at any time since the Cold War, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is arriving in the Ukrainian capital to obviously «seal the deal» on American «lethal defensive weapons» and military advisers being sent to Ukraine to help it battle self-determination seekers in the Donbass region. Although Kerry said in Kiev that the U.S. will not provide weapons to Ukraine, he is either naïve or lying about previous U.S. arms shipments to the Kiev authorities.
Ukrainian military transport aircraft have, for the past year since the Zionist/fascist putschists overthrew the government of President Viktor Yanukovych in Kiev, been flying around the world, including the United States, collecting everything from weapons and military helicopters to armored vehicles and ammunition for Ukraine’s polyglot army of regular troops and neo-Nazi militia units.
Kerry’s move comes as all signs from the Obama administration point to an impending overt outflow of U.S. weapons to the putschist regime in Kiev. During Secretary of Defense-nominee Ashton Carter’s confirmation hearing before Senate Armed Services Committee chairman John McCain, the chief war monger calling for the U.S. to support Ukraine militarily, Carter all but promised to send Ukraine U.S. weaponry. Carter told McCain: «I'm very much inclined in that direction [sending Ukraine weapons], mister chairman, because I think we need to support the Ukrainians in defending themselves.»
The United States also announced that it was providing $16 million in «humanitarian aid» to Kiev. One of the lessons of the Iran-contra scandal of the 1980s was that U.S. «humanitarian aid» to the right-wing Nicaraguan contras was often in the form of air-parachuted guns and ammunition delivered by CIA contract airlines like Southern Air Transport.
Carter’s comment came as NATO commander General Philip Breedlove told a NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels that Ukraine needed «defensive» weapons to defend its eastern border.
U.S. ambassador to NATO Douglas Lute asserted that regular Russian troops were active in Donbass since the outbreak of hostilities in April 2014. However, Lute offered not a single shred of evidence to support his assertion.
Lute is a retired U.S. Army general who served as George W. Bush’s «war czar.» Lute is among several neo-conservative Bush administration holdovers in the Obama administration. Another such neo-con holdover is Victoria Nuland, the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. Before newly-inaugurated Barack Obama decided to appoint Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State, by-passing Kerry who believed he would become Obama’s first Secretary of State, it is known that Kerry personally pushed Nuland, Bush’s ambassador to NATO, for her current job.
Nuland, one of the architects of the «Maidan Square» coup against Yanukovych who is known for her lack of diplomatic tact and her foul-mouth, is married to the infamous neo-con policy maker Robert Kagan, one of the promoters of the U.S. invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Carter wants to send «non-lethal» aid to Ukraine but Breedlove may have tipped his hand when he recently stated that the type of weaponry Ukraine should get from NATO should be able to help it «counter sophisticated and heavy weaponry» being supplied to eastern Ukrainians by Russia. What Breedlove is stating is that Ukraine should be able to counter alleged «sophisticated weaponry» with «sophisticated weaponry» from NATO. Such NATO weapons would be as «offensive» in nature as «defensive.»
Outgoing Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel represented the United States at the NATO meeting. Breedlove’s comments came as the Pentagon admitted to «losing» $400 million worth of weapons it had sent to Yemen’s government. There is little doubt that the «defensive» weapons of helicopters, small arms, ammunition, tanks, and artillery have ended up in the hands of the Islamic State and Al Qaeda.
Carter’s statement came as
Vice President Joe Biden, whose son, R. Hunter Biden serves on the board of directors of chief Ukrainian war lord and Zionist billionaire provocateur Ihor Kolomoisky’s Burisma Holdings natural gas conglomerate, planned to meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at a Munich security summit on his upcoming trip to Europe, which will also include a stopover at NATO headquarters in Brussels. Biden’s family is not the only one with a stake in putschist-run Ukraine. Kerry’s step-son Christopher Heinz is a close friend and business associate of Devon Archer, who also serves on the board of Burisma Holdings. Archer and Hunter Biden are managing partners of Rosemont Seneca Holdings/Partners/Advisers, a typical «investment firm» used by politicians and their families to make a profit on having «insider ties» with foreign governments and business tycoons like Kolomoisky.
Speaking at a February 4 news conference in Paris with Canadian Defense Minister Robert Nicholson, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that France would not follow the U.S. lead in supplying «defensive weapons» to Ukraine if Washington publicly announced such a move. Nicholson said Canada had already supplied Ukraine with «defensive weapons.» Ukraine lost a powerful advocate in the recent surprise resignation of Canadian External Affairs Minister John Baird, whose sudden departure from politics sent a shockwave through the political establishment in Ottawa.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande turned up suddenly in Kiev during Kerry’s visit to the Ukrainian capital. The German and French leaders were expected to deliver a new peace proposal Kiev before flying to Moscow.
The words of NATO nations’ leaders in seeking a peace accord between Ukraine and Russia were not matched by actions. Even as Merkel and Hollande set out for Kiev and Moscow, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was announcing a more than doubling of the size of NATO’s multinational rapid reaction force, aimed at Russia, from 13,000 to 30,000 troops. NATO command and control centers were to be established in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria.
Meanwhile, former NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, due to be sworn in as President of Croatia on February 19, 2015, began making bellicose statements aimed at Serbia, a traditional Russian ally, about eventual independence for the Serbian province of Vojvodina, a region with a large ethnic Hungarian population.
Even if one were to believe that Kerry, Hollande, and Merkel were well-intentioned in their efforts with regard to bringing about a peace agreement in Ukraine, the actions of Stoltenberg, Lute, and Breedlove point more to a NATO intent on seeking a military showdown with Russia.
NATO should have long ago shuttered the doors in its headquarters in Brussels. It is a military bloc that only represents the interests of neo-con war hawks like the aging McCain and his «drama queen» friend Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and money-hungry war companies like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and General Dynamics, eager to sell their expensive war «toys» to new NATO members. | ||||||
