Tehran, SANA – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said the U.S. airstrikes on positions of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Syria are illegal as they were not coordinated with Syria or permitted by the UN Security Council.
In statements to the U.S. BBC Channel on Tuesday, President Rouhani said the U.S. warplanes have made about 14 air raids against ISIS positions without the approval of Syria or a permission from the UN Security Council.
The U.S. raids on ISIS in Iraq were asked for by the Iraqi government. Syria has not made such request.
