Can PEACE-WILPF and Green-Böll Wariors Go Together?

Wilpf-Europe and "Gunda Werner Institute" held a joint conference last weekend in Berlin at the  prestigious siege of  the Heinrich Böll-Foundation, Schumannstraße 8, in Berlin Mitte.

Heinrich Böll (1917-1985) a notable German postwar novelist received the Nobel Prize for literature in 1972. He was active in the enormous peace movement of the eighties of last century.
But Are the German Greens an anti-war party today?
The world wide web has  the following answer:

"German Green Party campaigns for war

By Christoph Dreier
22 March 2014
The German government’s confrontational approach towards Russia is supported by all parties represented in the federal parliament. But none are doing so as aggressively and hysterically as the Greens.
Fifteen years ago, the Greens jointly oversaw the first foreign deployment of the German army since World War II in NATO’s war against Yugoslavia. Now they are supporting fascist forces in Ukraine and foaming with war propaganda against Russia. On the television programme “Menschen bei Maischberger” there was virtually nothing to differentiate Green Party politician Werner Schulz from the president of the revanchist League of Exiles (BdV) Erika Steinbach on this issue.
Schulz described Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “criminal,” “aggressor,” and “war-monger,” who represented an “expansionist nationalism.” Because Putin was an “unscrupulous power politician,” the situation was more dangerous today than in the Cold War.
Schulz received special praise from Steinbach when he questioned the legitimacy of Russia’s claim to Crimea by referring to the deportation of Crimea’s Tatars under the Stalinist regime 70 years ago as the cause of ethnic Russians being in the majority. It was not actually a state which broke apart when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, but Europe’s last colonial empire had fallen, according to Schulz. Putin’s new colonialism had to be countered by the eastward expansion of the NATO alliance.
In an interview with Deutsche Welle at the beginning of March, Schulz explicitly spoke out in favour of using military threats over the Ukraine conflict. “Ultimately, the only really effective method is the guarantee of assistance,” the European Parliament deputy said. “It is fully in conformity with international law that these countries are given a guarantee that their territorial integrity will be maintained. And this will also warn Russia of its limits.”
Whenever voices are raised in the German media and by politicians, who, while supporting the aims of German imperialism, call for diplomatic activity or verbal de-escalation, Green Party propagandists respond with extreme aggression."

... the Greens have no qualms about defending the fascist party Svoboda, whose sister party in Germany, the NPD, the Greens wish to ban. Svoboda formed part of the shock troops who contributed to the escalation of violence on the Maidan, and is represented in the new government, which is recognised by the German government, with six cabinet members and three ministers.
Green Party chairwoman Katrin Göring-Eckhardt defended Svoboda during a recent debate in the German parliament in an angry speech. The call from Svoboda leader Oleg Tyagnibok, “grab your arms, fight the Russkies, the Germans, the yids and other undesirables,” was already 10 years old and therefore could not help in understanding the current situation, claimed Göring-Eckhardt. Instead one had to ask, “Why was it that right-wing populists were invited from across Europe to monitor the vote in Crimea?”
Svoboda’s ministers did not have the upper hand in the Ukrainian government, she went on. Therefore there was no reason to take action. “Democracy and freedom in the Ukrainian constitution would certainly be over in that case.”
This defence of, and downplaying of fascists is in direct contradiction with the Greens’ own sources. In November, Kyryl Savin, head in Kiev of the Heinrich Böll foundation—the Greens’ think tank—commented: “unfortunately the right and right-wing radicals dominated the rhetoric among the protesters.” At the same time, according to Savin, “many of our partners in civil society” had taken part in the demonstrations.
The foundation was actively involved in the organisation of the demonstrations from the beginning. Leading Green politicians like Harms and parliamentary deputy Marieluise Beck travelled to Kiev on numerous occasions to participate in the Maidan protests and to exercise influence. The permanent presence of Svoboda leader Tyagnibok, who was hailed by leading representatives from the EU, and the German and US governments, was of no concern to them. Just this week the Heinrich Boll foundation hosted a discussion between billionaire speculator George Soros and former Green Party minister Joschka Fischer, who have declared their unanimity on all major questions regarding developments in Ukraine—in particular their support for the aggressive policy of the German government against Russia.
The cooperation with fascists and calls for war with Russia are the sharpest expressions to date of the rightward evolution of the Greens. In 1998, the former pacifists played a key role in mobilising their petty-bourgeois followers in support of the first intervention by the German army since the Second World War. At that time it was foreign minister Fischer who argued for war on the basis of preventing a repeat of Auschwitz. Since then the Greens have developed into the party that is the most aggressive advocate of military intervention.
During their time in government, they also supported the colonial campaign against Afghanistan. In the Libyan war, the Greens attacked the then Christian Democratic Union/Free Democratic Party government for not participating in the bombardment of the country. Last year, they were thestrongest advocates of military intervention in Syria.
This militarist foreign policy was connected from the outset with massive attacks on the working class in Germany. The association agreement with the EU, which the German government sought to enforce with the overthrow of Yanukovych, also plans major attacks on the wages and living standards of Ukrainian workers.
The Greens’ ruthless advocacy of the interests of German imperialism arises from the social and political roots of the party. More than any other, the Greens represent a privileged layer of the middle class and are extremely hostile to the demands of working people.
Figures like Schulz and Göring-Eckhardt played a central role in the restoration of capitalism in the GDR (East Germany). Both of them joined citizens’ movements in 1989 which would later come together to form Bündnis 90 (Alliance 90). Schulz sat personally at the round table discussions as a representative of the New Forum, collaborating closely with the Stalinist state party (SED) to prepare reunification and introduce capitalist property relations.
Their contempt for the social achievements of the working class in the GDR, expressed by Schulz’s description of the Soviet Union as a supposed colonial power, was coupled with the desire for career advancement in a reunified Germany. Bündnis 90 ultimately brought those elements of the movement together which emerged as the most hostile to the interests of the working class.
In 1993, they merged with the west German Greens, who for their part were representatives of a social layer which, after briefly flirting with Stalinism in its Maoist form in the 1970s, retained only its hatred of the working class while moving continuously to the right as its wealth grew.

WILPF is neither "Pussy" nor "Riot"!

What Business does a Womens' Peace Organisation Have in Common with „Pussies and Riots“? NON!

WILPF women do neither want to be defined as sexobjects or playthings nor do they see their social role as „rioters“ even if they often have had to express their dissent with offically elected policy makers. Wilpfers see themselves as educators who have been   working for a peaceful transformation of their war ridden societies in an almost 100 year old struggle.

WILPF's struggle is based upon aims and principles. WILPF wants to abolish war forever and therefore works for a new economic world order based on justice. WILPF principles include tolerance and nonviolent procedures. As women and as peacemakers, Wilpfers  care to be treated as equal human beings who want their specific needs to be taken into consideration.

Women's International League for Peace and Freedom came into organisational existence in 1919 in Zürich, Switzerland, while having been born out of an anti-war gathering of over 1000 women at the Hague in 1915. In the midst of a world wide slaughtering, which was later baptized World War I, they sent peace delegates to the waring parties. Diplomatic respect for the “enemy“ nation  and their leaders was a precondition to their very work.

Wilpfers of all ages cannot accept their sister being defined through male eyes as „Pussies“. Wilpf women will never accept being reduced to their sex organs. Professional women and mothers  do not allow being stigmatized and diminished as „pussies“ or pussycats, sexobject or any kind of male playthings.

The Russian „Punk Band“  „Pussy Riot“ acting with face masks and using violent methods, such as burning pictures of their elected president in public must be criticized for doing so. Their using symbols of violence like a speared guitars, their disrespect for the religious feelings of their compatriots and their aggressive and provocative behavior,  needs  to be exposed and not  to be applauded.

WILPF also must distanciate itself from "Pussy Riots" political background as being a spring off of the BBC and Western PR agencies, using their very strategies.
Their political aim, namely to "put shit" on „the altar“ and to their elected president cannot be aproved of, escpecially not in times of war threats under way.

"Stoppt die Medienlügen über die Ukraine!" Ramsey Clark International Action Centre

Kein neuer US-Krieg ! Stoppt die Medienlügen über die Ukraine !   I
MarscDehKein neuer vom CNN bis Fox Newsn NEW YORK CITY
Gesendet vom Internationalen Action Center in New York*

Ukraine: Dayton Accords Once Again?

Ukraine: Dayton Accords Once Again?

The armed coup staged in Kiev, that made Neo-Nazi groups come to power, put Ukraine on the brink of collapse. The events unfold according to traditional pattern of conflict escalation with mass violations of human rights, ethnic cleansing, resistance in some regions, complete anarchy, divisions in the ranks of power agencies and field commanders going on a rampage. The United States and the European Union are rendering aid to the ultranationalist junta. The reunification of Crimea with Russia shows, among other things, that the coercive Eurointegartion of Ukraine has failed. Only an international solution still to be found could lead the country out of the crisis…

Western Hypocritical Hysteria over Reunification of Crimea with Russia

How the West Is Reacting to the Reunification of Crimea and Russia

Dmitriy SEDOV | 21.03.2014 | 00:00

At first it seemed like everything was going according to the 1945 Allen Dulles plan, which supposedly no one has ever seen, but which America has been following faithfully for many decades. In the very beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, Western political leaders quoted in unison the political dictionary created at the start of the Cold War which has become a time-honored reference when assessing any events connected with Russia: Russia is a totalitarian regime, the Russian leader is a dictator, Russian foreign policy is imperialist, Moscow cannot be trusted, the Ukrainian nationalists are freedom fighters, the deadly shootings on the Maidan are peaceful demonstrations, the banditry of fascists in Ukrainian cities is restoration to order, the putschists in Kiev are the lawful government, the referendum in Crimea (http://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2014/03/14/referendum-in-crimea-and-international-law.html) is a violation of international law, and the reunification of Crimea and Russia is an annexation.

The repetition of these phrases was accompanied by threats from Western leaders, who constantly stated that Russia would «pay a steep price» for returning Crimea. Added to all of this were the howls of the Russian fifth column, in which Allen Dulles did not hope in vain.

In all, everything was going according to plan. However, at some point the mechanism started to malfunction. More specifically, in the heat of the moment some major figures made what are usually called «Freudian slips». President Obama probably forgot the wise old Anglo-Saxon saying «never say never» when he stated to President Putin that the U.S. would «never acknowledge the results of the referendum in Crimea». He did not even suspect that Freud defines the «no way, no how» attitude as one of intellectual and moral stupor. And really, who will care if the U.S. doesn't acknowledge the results of the declaration of the will of the people of Crimea? Especially since, as if mocking the American president, the U.S. National Geographic Society has stated its intention to show Crimea as part of Russia on its maps. There they make maps of the world as it is, and not as some politicians would like it to be.

No less interesting is the slip made by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, who stated that «the international community condemn[s] the continuing assault on Ukraine’s sovereignty» and called Russia's actions a «land grab». He threatened Moscow with new sanctions and promised that a missile defense site will appear in Poland no later than 2018, and that Washington will help modernize the Polish army. Interesting. They have always linked the installation of American missile defense systems in Poland to neutralizing threats from Iran. Washington has assured Moscow dozens of times that the European missile defense systems are not aimed against Russia. And now a Freudian slip. So they are aimed against Russia after all?

And immediately other «victims of Russia's imperialist policy», the Baltic States, started scurrying. They realize that the return of Crimea to its historic homeland cannot but inspire the discriminated-against Russian minority in these countries. However, rather than thinking about how to regulate the situation within their own countries, they are talking about the need to increase U.S. and NATO presence in the Baltic region. Estonian defense minister Urmas Reinsalu is already having nightmares. «We know that a bill has been discussed in the State Duma on the possible annexation of territories of other countries to the Russian Federation,» he stated, and expressed the hope that American troops would come to Estonia. The Pentagon looks with favor on such sentiments.

Now there are ten USAF F-15C fighter planes patrolling the skies of the Baltic region, although the Russian General Staff believes that this looks more like military and political exhibitionism. And apparently in order that these Baltic allies may not lose their taste for such perversions, the U.S. vice president has announced plans for an increase in American military presence in the Baltic States.

The behavior of «Europe's tough guy», Francois Holland, is also interesting from a Freudian perspective. In his typical aging macho style, Hollande stated that «Paris is preparing a forceful reaction to events in Crimea». Perhaps, he said, France would even back out of the contract for Mistral class ships. Of course, the Russian military industrial complex's response was a cold shower for the macho man: «We can build ferries like that without the French. They're nothing complicated».

It remains to be seen who he will punish by backing out, Russian shipbuilders or his own, but he is definitely giving Front National leader Marine Le Pen a trump card. The Front National in France has acknowledged the results of the referendum in Crimea. So the scare tactics promised by Holland will most likely remain empty words.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has behaved more decorously than the other «truth monopolists». While formally playing the part dictated by Brussels regarding the «violation of international law», she has not made any threats toward Moscow. Maybe this is because she belongs to the older generation of Germans, which values relations with Russia, and maybe it is because Germany has its own view of the future of Europe, and Russia occupies a prominent place in this future. One can sense in Merkel's position an unwillingness to make a world cataclysm out of the Crimean precedent.

So not everyone in the Euro-Atlantic community is willing to follow London, which demonstrated the most frenzied reaction to the reunification of Crimea and Russia. The head of the British Foreign Office, William Hague, said the following on the topic: «I would not describe it as a new cold war, but that will depend on the course of events over the coming days».

Incidentally, if you consider that the majority of currency transactions made by Russian foreign trade operators go through London City, and a reduction in them would be a blow to British financiers, it is obvious that Hague plans, in England's traditional style, to fight by proxy. Chancellor Merkel is probably familiar with Bismarck's phrase that «the English always look for fools who are willing to sacrifice themselves for them,» and is unlikely to rush to be in solidarity with London in all things.

In all, there is no full unanimity in the West as to how to «punish» Russia. There is no fighting spirit or confidence in success to be seen. It seems that the G7 meeting on the Ukrainian issue coming up at the end of the week will not produce any earthshaking results.
And the statements of Western politicians that Russia has ended up in «world isolation» sound just plain funny. After all, the world exists outside the U.S. and NATO. Russia's actions regarding Crimea have been supported by China, India, and many countries of Latin America, Europe and Africa.
The political dictionary of Allen Dulles has long been hopelessly outdated. Few still recognize it. And those who use this dictionary are ending up in the position of duped agents of narrow corporate interests of a very specific nature.
